Zero de Conduite

9/10

ZERO DE CONDUITE (1933). Short, pointed, surrealist and – in France at least – too controversial to be shown when it was released, this is the father of all (anti) school movies. Words cannot convey how much Jean Vigo does in 40 minutes, but it is a film that demands to be seen, both for its anarchist principles, and its gorgeous cinematography.
