ZODIAC (2007). One of David Fincher's best films, this benefits from a degree of unusual restraint. It’s his account of the Zodiac killer, a serial murderer in the Bay area who was never caught or convicted. Robert Downey Jr plays a journalist on the San Francisco Chronicle, and Jake Gyllenhaal who works on the same paper and becomes obsessed with the case. The two of them, plus cop Mark Ruffalo, do everything they can to solve the case.
