YOUNG ADAM (2003). Ewan McGregor has done his best to waste his early promise with a succession of mediocre and downright terrible films, but this little gem shines brightly in the darkness. Based on a Scots novel, it’s the story of a young man who goes to work on a barge where he becomes involved with the captain’s wife, as well as having secrets of his own from the past. It’s a good film, even if it’s not easy viewing.
