THE YACOUBIAN BUILDING (2006). We get so few African films shown in this country that it’s a pleasure to welcome this Egyptian movie based on a best selling novel. There is a multitude of characters, but the film caused no end of fuss by dealing with issues like adultery and homosexuality which do not get portrayed in your average Muslim film. I enjoyed it.
