THE WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES (2000). Bela Tarr is either a genius or he makes long dull films in which nothing happens – or both. For lovers of slow stately films in black and white, with beautifully composed shots and a willingness to let time evolve naturally, this is your film. I’m not being sarcastic; it really is a matter of taste. Put it this way, this is at one end of a cinema spectrum with Transformers at the other end. Plot? Not really relevant.
