THE WILD BUNCH (1969). A violent but elegiac western which opens and closes with two stunning set pieces, both shootouts. A bunch of outlaws gradually realise that their days are numbered and try to find a way to leave gracefully. This is the film Butch Cassidy would be if it had cojones. A genuinely great western.
