WATERLAND (1992). Based on Graham Swift’s novel, the film starts in 1972 when Jeremy Irons, a teacher at an American school, starts to tell his students stories of his childhood, which started well and went downhill. Ethan Hawke is one of the students to whom he tells the stories; and you will also spot a young Maggie Gyllenhaal, the daughter of the film's director.
