WALKABOUT (1971). Nicolas Roeg made three great films in succession (Performance and Don’t Look Now are the others) in the early 70s, but not a lot else since then. Jenny Agutter plays a teenage girl who is stranded in the desert with her younger brother when their father kills himself. They set off on the hopeless task of survival, but are befriended by an Aboriginal boy. It’s a film of beauty and magic and not enough people have seen it.
