WAITRESS (2007). Adrienne Shelly, once an actress in the early films of Hal Hartley was murdered not long after making her debut as director with this enjoyable indie film. While it makes no difference to the film itself, it’s hard not to bear it in mind when you watch this sweet-hearted story about a young waitress with an obnoxious husband, an unwanted pregnancy and a dead end job. It’s no masterpiece, but there’s a lot to enjoy.
