VOLVER (2006). I am told that if you are Spanish, this is very funny. But I’m not, and to me, it’s a rather overblown soap opera more along the lines of older Almodovar films. And while no one can doubt that Penelope Cruz is a powerful presence, her film star looks unbalance the film, and consequently it feels less plausible.
