LA VIE EN ROSE (2007). Decent biopic of Edith Piaf, for which Marion Cotillard won an Oscar. The film skips back and forth through her life, omitting the period of German occupation, as well as her affairs with Yves Montand and Charles Aznavour. The film is predictably sentimental about a woman who has been idealised by a nation, and follows the familiar course of rags to riches to self-destruction, along with music I’d happily never listen to again, but Cotillard is very very good.
