VERTIGO (1958). This is one of Hitchcock’s finest films, and possibly his most admired, though not my favourite. James Stewart plays an ex-cop who becomes obsessed with a woman he is hired to follow. I mustn’t say any more because it might spoil the thrill for you. It’s an extraordinary film, full of colour, imagery and suggestions of necrophilia, and anyone interested in cinema should watch it.
