VENUS (2006). Peter O’Toole’s powers have not diminished with age. The eyes stare a little more madly in his performance as an elderly bloke who becomes entranced by his friend’s great niece, with whom he develops a relationship which is a combination of complex and inappropriate. It’s a brave film, impossible to pigeonhole, which I felt mildly enthusiastic about.
