THE 39 STEPS (1935). John Buchan’s original book is absurdly dated, and I love it. Hitchcock’s film is the best of the various ones that have been made, but still introduces all sorts of details (love interest) that don’t belong there, though Robert Donat makes a decent enough Hannay. No one will ever film the book the way it was written, so read it.
