THE TALL GUY (1989). I first fell in love with Emma Thompson in this film in which she plays Nurse Lemon, who gives jabs to Jeff Goldblum; he in turn is straight man to obnoxious comedian Rowan Atkinson. The film is funny rather than hilarious, but it has more wit and emotional intelligence than most comedies, and ET is wonderful, as always.
