This film was very popular in the US, where Seabiscuit (a horse who was famous in the 1930) has an iconic status like that of Red Rum. The story is built around the three significant men in the horse's life - his owner (Jeff Bridges), his trainer (Chris Cooper), and his jockey (Tobey Maguire). Each of them has had their share of tragedy and hardship, and when they come together to try to turn Seabiscuit into a race-winning horse, they find that the horse itself is nothing much to write home about.
But this is a feelgood, uplift dramatic saga based on a true story, and if you like horse racing, you'll enjoy it.
