Singin' in the Rain

9/10

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN (1952). Strictly speaking this is not a musical, so I’m allowed to like it. It’s a film in which people sing a lot. Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor are song and dance men who make it in the movies, during the transition from silent to sound. Life is complicated when GK falls for Debbie Reynolds while falling out with his screen squeeze. A sublime film that everyone should watch, repeatedly.
