THE SEVEN SAMURAI (1954). I think we can safely say that this is one of the greatest films ever made. Sure, it’s 4 hours long, in black and white and in Japanese, but it is also one of the best action movies ever made, since Kurosawa understands the art of creating intense excitement like no one else. Give it the time it needs, and be gobsmacked. (The Magnificent 7 is based on it).
