A SCANNER DARKLY (2006). Not a very illuminating title, and the film isn’t a lot better. Based on a novel by Philip K Dick, it’s set in the future where drug addiction is rife and the police have undercover agents trying to stamp it out. The most unusual aspect of the film is that the actors have been rotoscoped over (a form of animation) giving an intentionally psychedelic feel to the whole thing. Keanu Reeves, Woody Harrelson and Robert Downey Jr are among the stars hiding behind the digital scribble.
