RIFIFI (1955). If you haven’t seen this film, you have a treat in store. It’s probably the best heist movie ever made – and that includes a lot of very tense films (By the way, heist refers to a robbery). It’s French, it’s black and white, it’s old, and it’s got no well known names. But if you aren’t racked with sweaty palms and chewed nails during the half hour robbery sequence with no dialogue and no music, then check your pulse – you may be dead.
