REDACTED (2007). Despite a long career directing films, and an almost complete lack of talent in that respect, Brian de Palma still tries to court publicity by being controversial. In this Iraq film (one of so many that the public ignored) both content and technique are employed to manufacture some sense of edgy relevance. The subject matter is the rape and murder of Iraqis by US soldiers; de Palma’s style is to use a combination of web film, still photographs and footage taken by a digital camera strapped to a soldier’s helmet. This film will not change any closed minds.
