QUIET CHAOS (2008). Lovely film starring Nanni Moretti as a man who helps to rescue two women from drowning, then comes home to find his wife has died. As a result, he decides to spend every day outside his 10 year old daughter's school, sitting on a park bench and withdrawing from the everyday world - including his troublesome sister-in-law and his business colleagues who are involved in a complex merger. It's a bit like Groundhog Day as he goes through the same rituals day after day, waiting to feel some sense of grief or tragedy. I liked it a lot, and probably would have given it a 7, but the ending is a bit of a mixed bag. There's an incongruous and rather graphic sex scene, a cameo from Roman Polanski, and a lack of real emotional punch to close the story.
