THE QUEEN (2006). Helen Mirren and Michael Sheen play the odd couple of Elizabeth and Tony, monarch and Prime Minister, whose interests coincide in the aftermath of Diana’s death. Originally conceived as TV drama, this reached a much wider audience (including America) as a result of the actors’ skill and Stephen Frears’ direction of Peter Morgan’s script.
