PERSONA (1966). One of Ingmar Bergman’s finest films (which is saying something) and also one of the most challenging. Two women are alone on an island; one is an actress who has had a breakdown, the other is her carer. The emerging relationship between the two of them is the core of the film. Not recommended as a film to watch after Match of the Day, but essential for serious film devotees.
