PENELOPE (2006). An attempt at a modern fairy tale about a girl (Christina Ricci) with a good character but the face of a pig, a curse that can only be lifted by someone loving her for who she really is. Parents eager to marry her off find it hard to locate a suitor, but James McAvoy is a promising candidate. Unfortunately it sounds better on the page than it is on the screen.
