THE PASSENGER (1975). Bertolucci’s existential meditation on life and death in a North African village, with Jack Nicholson as a journalist who has acquired the identity of another man is memorable for its stunning camerawork (and especially a closing sequence), but like a lot of Bertolucci’s films, it is overrated, dull and pretentious.
