NASHVILLE (1975). Made to coincide with the bicentenary, Altman’s masterpiece is long, diverse, ambitious and flooded with a variety of characters whose complicated lives are mostly unresolved three hours later. Sadly unavailable in the UK, look out for it if you ever get a chance to see it.
