NIL BY MOUTH (1997). Gary Oldman has only directed one film, but what a film. Ray Winstone plays the father and husband in this (presumably) autobiographical account of a dysfunctional family in South London. Kathy Burke plays his partner and the core of the film is the abusive relationship between them. It’s not an easy film to watch but it is extremely well made and acted, and I recommend it.
