NEW IN TOWN (2009). Someone somewhere needs to be brave enough to take Renee Zellwegger on one side and have a quiet word in her ear – along the lines of “This isn’t working”. As a supporting actress, she was great; as Bridget Jones, she was fine. As romantic lead in films in which men are supposed to fall in love with her – forget about it. No one believes it for a moment. Not in this film, either.
