NANCY DREW (2007). The character of Nancy Drew dates back to 1930, and has had nearly 200 books based on her; it’s an American phenomenon which never caught on here in a big way. She’s an all-American girl who’s a detective. A bit like Enid Blyton but older. This recent film stars Emma (niece of Julia) Roberts as a modern Nancy, busy being cheerful and solving mysteries. It makes a change from shopping and makeup.
