THE NAME OF THE ROSE (1986). One of Sean Connery’s better roles, as a detective/monk in the Middle Ages, trying to solve the mysterious murders at a monastery. The original book by Umberto Eco is rather more sophisticated than the film, but as medieval murder movies go, it’s not bad.
