MEAN STREETS (1973). One of my favourite Scorsese films. Above all, Robert de Niro is outstanding as JohnnyBoy, a feckless troublemaking idiot whose friend, Harvey Keitel has to keep him from the consequence of his actions. The soundtrack is terrific, the camerawork exhilarating and it reeks of the lowlife ordinariness of petty crime of the streets.
