MANSFIELD PARK (1999). Most adaptations of Jane Austen are rather prim and costume-bound, but this film by Patricia Rozema has more bite, making the family connection with slavery more explicit, and upping the sexual quota. Frances O’Connor is very good as Fanny, in love with Jonny Lee Miller.
