MANHATTAN (1979). Ah those happy days when a new Woody Allen film was a treat to look forward to, and they just kept getting better. Following on from Annie Hall, this black and white love song to New York seemed like a real treat, although it also exposed Allen’s fondness for much younger women (he dates Mariel Hemingway, just 25 years younger than him). There’s also an early glimpse of Meryl Streep.
