THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (1962/2004). Watch the original version, in which Laurence Harvey is cold eyed brainwashed assassin and Frank Sinatra is the guy who has to stop him. The Cold War subtext makes much more sense than the updated film, in which it’s Denzel Washington trying to stop Meryl Streep and her son Liev Schreiber.
