THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE (1994). Nigel Hawthorne’s finest screen hour as George III, king from 1760 – 1820, but suffering from porphyria in his later years, which reduced him to a state of near insanity, during which time his wife was at her wits’ end, his son was trying to take over the throne, and only one doctor had the balls to stand up to him. From the play by Alan Bennett. Very good.
