LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962). Considering that the part was originally given to Albert Finney, and that he bore no resemblance to Lawrence, Peter O’Toole does an amazing job of holding this film together for nearly four hours. It’s a great film, partly for its photography and set pieces, but also because it tackles ambitious and complex history and makes a better job of it than 98% of other movies. It really is a must see film.
