LARS AND THE REAL GIRL (2007). An odd but engaging movie about a man who is somewhat dissociated from the world. He lives adjacent to his sister and brother-in-law, and only comes to life when he acquires a blow-up doll who he treats as a real girl. Could have been creepy or silly, but Ryan Gosling’s sincerity makes this a true love story.
