JAWS (1975). One of the most influential films of all time – it launched the career of Steven Spielberg, and it also created, almost single-handedly, the phenomenon of the summer blockbuster. There’s no doubt it’s an exciting and skilfully made film with a cast of actors of a higher calibre than it deserved. But I can’t watch it without seeing a shadow fall over the future of cinema.
