AN IDEAL HUSBAND (1999). Convinced that it must be possible to successfully transfer Oscar Wilde to the big screen, people keep making films of his plays, and while they’re entertaining enough in a costume drama way, they simply don’t match up to the stage, even with the likes of Cate Blanchett, Jeremy Northam and Rupert Everett.
