GANGSTER NO 1 (2000). The film that introduced us to Paul Bettany, playing the meanest young gangster you can imagine back in the 1960s – think Performance, or Alex in Clockwork Orange. And of course, it’s Malcolm McDowell who plays the older Bettany. It’s a violent, self consciously clever film, but pretty good for a British gangster flick.
