ERIN BROCKOVICH (2000). BOATS. While I think Julia Roberts if excellent in the title role, I also think that it’s such a strong part and such a good film, that it probably could have been played by a number of actresses. But Julia got the Oscar and good luck to her. The real Erin Brockovich (still pursuing water contamination cases today) was a former beauty queen who ended up as a lawyer almost by chance; Steven Soderbergh had the sense to tell the story the way it was.
