THE END OF THE AFFAIR (1999). Based on Graham Greene’s novel, Neil Jordan’s film casts Ralph Fiennes as the lover of Julianne Moore, with Stephen Rea as he husband. It’s very well put together and acted, but it doesn’t quite work, whether because society’s atitudes have changed so much, or else because there is a lack of warmth and humour in the story.
