EMMA (1996). Gwyneth Paltrow makes rather a good Emma Woodhouse with her swan neck and her ability to look as though she knows best for everyone. Other stand out performances include Toni Collette and Jeremy Northam. There is a plethora of versions of Austen’s novel, but this is a good as any.
