ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE (2007). Quite stupendously bad. Set in the late 1580s, all historical accuracy is jettisoned in order to wedge in the death of Mary Queen of Scots, the Catholic plot, Sir Walter Raleigh and his ‘affair’ with Elizabeth, and the Spanish Armada. Badly written, poorly acted, clumsily directed (with endless overhead shots) and without a redeeming feature.
