ELIZABETH (1998). The first of these 2 films is immensely enjoyable despite the absurd historical inaccuracies. It covers the early adult life of Elizabeth, before she comes queen and then the first troubled years on the throne. Cate Blanchett is sublime in the title role, and there is enough machiavellian scheming going on around her to make it fun to watch.
