Eagle Eye

5/10

On one level this is an entirely preposterous thriller lacking any logic, and full of car chases and explosions. But it also, for the first two thirds of the film, works well as a thriller. Shia Laboeuf is a young man whose life is turned upside down when he receives hundreds of thousands of dollars from a cashpoint, and is then issued with a series of instructions which are baffling to say the least. Michelle Monaghan is the single mother in a similar predicament, and Billy Bob Thornton is the FBI guy chasing after them. It reminded me of North by Northwest in the way it played with the audience's equilibrium, though obviously it's nowhere near as good.
