DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944). If there is a defining femme fatale film noir, this is it. One of Billy Wilder’s many great movies, you get Fred MacMurray as the dupe who thinks he’s smart, Barbara Stanwyck as the blonde with a brain, and Edward G Robinson who’s seen it all and wishes he hadn’t. Absolutely essential viewing.
