DEAN SPANLEY (2008). A really gorgeous film which I loved from start to finish. The plot outline won’t thrill you, so just take my word for it that a story about a man (Jeremy Northam), his relationship with his father (Peter O’Toole) and a stranger called Dean Spanley (Sam Neill) is subtle, compelling and entirely suprising.
