DEAD MAN WALKING (1995). BOATS. I can’t think of a single person who shouldn’t see this film. It’s superbly acted by Susan Sarandon as a nun, and Sean Penn as the murderer who she befriends in prison. It’s beautifully directed by Tim Robbins and it deals with the very real issue of crime and punishment, without reaching glib conclusions. Sarandon’s character Sister Prejean is a real person, and embodies goodness in a way which is believable without being sickly – a very hard thing to do.
